Dr. Diego Ramiro-Fariñas was one of the speakers in the recently-concluded Workshop on Demography: Preparing and Analyzing Archival Data conducted on Feb. 6-9, 2018 at the UP Population Institute. His two presentations for the event were entitled Building bridges or bridging highways? Historical demography and the creation of longitudinal registers in non-western European countries: Possibilities for the Philippines and Placing people in time and space: GIS and the integration of individual level sociodemographic and epidemiological data. He is also assisting in the Social History of the Philippine Population (SHoPP) Initiative housed at the UPPI.

On February 12, 2018, Dr. Ramiro also presented a lecture titled Longitudinal registers, data linkage and big data: Some views on the statistical production in the future which was well attended by faculty and students of the UPPI and staff of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
