SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
(Full time, non-UP Contractual)

The UP Population Institute is looking for a Senior Research Associate who will assist the faculty in many aspects of the Institute’s work, particularly in the conduct of research projects and extension services relating to the Institute's Research Agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the faculty in the conduct of research in line within the mandate of the Institute. Tasks include gathering, processing, and analysing of data, developing research instruments, and drafting reports
  • Document the Institute’s research and extension activities (e.g., events, symposium, webinars, etc.)
  • Establish, update, and monitor the database for research and extension of the Institute that will be used for Institute’s reports (PBB, annual reports, etc)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 18 units of completed graduate work related to any of the following fields: Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, Sociology, Economics, Mathematics, Mass Communication, & Geography
  • With at least 2 years of research experience and writing of reports in any of the following fields: Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, Sociology, Economics, Mathematics, Mass Communication, & Geography

  • Work Arrangement: Work from Home; Physically Reporting to office if needed
  • Monthly Rate: Php 33,306.00

DATA VALIDATORS
(Short-term Engagement)

The UP Population Institute is hiring additional data validators on short term engagement for its research project that aims to establish the average cost of tertiary education in public higher educational institutions (HEIs).

A data validator will be part of the research team of the UP Population Institute and will be instrumental in checking the completeness and verifying the accuracy of data provided by respondents on the research instrument.

This role will require familiarity with reviewing financial documents, quantitative research, as well as good communication skills and high attention to detail to be able to provide accurate feedback and effectively validate the information provided by the respondents in the study instrument.

Responsibilities

  • Check and validate the completeness and accuracy of data provided by respondents on the study instrument vis-à-vis attachments (i.e. financial reports).
  • Provide feedback and guidance to respondents who are representatives of higher educational institutions about their responses in cases of incomplete and/or incorrect data.
  • Follow up submissions from respondents and monitor the progress of submissions.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a four-year course in finance or accounting, or equivalent training / experience is REQUIRED
  • With previous experience in data gathering using quantitative methods is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office, particularly MS Excel
  • Has good communication skills to effectively communicate feedback to respondents about their responses in the instrument
  • Has strong attention to detail and can promptly answer queries from respondents and research team members

Other information

  • This is a full-time position with short-term contract (two months only).
  • This job requires working during regular office hours (9AM to 6PM).
  • The arrangement is work-from-home as of this job posting.
  • Compensation is estimated at Php 22,000 per month.
