Nimfa B. Ogena

A professor at the UPPI since 2005, she studied statistics at the University of the Philippines Manila and finished her Master of Arts in Demography at the UPPI in 1984. She took up her Diploma in International Relations and Development at the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands in 1986 and received her Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography at the Pennsylvania State University in 1994.

From 2009-2011, she was Chairperson, Technical Working Group on Migration Statistics under the Technical Committee on Population and Housing, National Statistics Coordination Board (NSCB). She also served as UPPI Director as well as Chairperson of the Demographic Research and Development Foundation (DRDF) from 2000-2005. In 2002, she was awarded the Gawad Chancellor Para sa Pinakamahusay na Mananaliksik (Chancellor's Award for Best Researcher), Social Sciences and Law Cluster, UP Diliman and received the prestigious Rafael Salas UP Centennial Professorial Chair Award in 2009. She was also a Visiting (Senior) Research Fellow at the Asian Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore (NUS) from Aug. - Nov. 2006.
