Mr. Michael Dominic Del Mundo

UPPI Master in Demography (MADEM 2015) graduate Michael Dominic del Mundo has been accepted into the PhD programme of the Social Statistics and Demography at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.

While taking his masters, Del Mundo worked as Instructor at the UP School of Statistics for 3 years (AY 2013-2014 to 2015-2016). His thesis titled Indirect Fertility Estimates of Women with Overseas Filipino Worker and non-Overseas Filipino Worker Spouses: Differentials Across Selected Variables studied the relationship of Migration and Fertility in the Philippines by focusing on the effect of spousal separation due to international labor migration on fertility.

Prior to embarking on his 3-year PhD program, Del Mundo will first attend preparatory courses at the European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD) which will be conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research for one month and then subsequently at the University of Rome Sapienza for 8 months.
